Pahrump Valley

Pahrump is the fastest growing rural unincorporated community in the United States and has a population of about 32,000 people.  The valley is 31 miles long and 8 - 12 miles wide.   It has a lovely park, community swimming pool, four challenging golf courses, three major grocery  stores and five drug stores, five casinos with restaurants, a bowling alley , a movie theater (coming soon), the only winery in Nevada , a radio station (KNYE 95.1) and 3 TV stations:   Ch 41  , CH 30 and Ch 62.  It is a quiet town with friendly people, only 10 miles from the California border, and just an hour's drive to Las Vegas to the east and  Death Valley to the west.

How Pahrump Got its Name

The Southern Paiutes, who occupied the Pahrump valley centuries ago, named it "Pah" - meaning water - and "Rimpi" - meaning stone or rock. Pah Rimpi became Pahrump, the Paiute description for springs or flowing waters emerging from rock.
